Choosing a storage unit is easier when you start with an inventory rather than a guess. List your largest items first, count your boxes, and think about whether you will need to reach anything after move-in.

Start with what cannot be stacked

Sofas, tables, appliances, and fragile furniture usually determine how much floor space you need. Boxes can often be stacked safely, but bulky items create the basic footprint of your unit.

10×10 storage unit

A 10×10 unit provides about 100 square feet of floor area. It can work well for boxes, seasonal items, small furniture groupings, or the contents of a smaller room. At Harper Mini-Storage, this size is $55 per month.

10×15 storage unit

A 10×15 unit provides about 150 square feet of floor area—50 percent more floor space than a 10×10. The extra length can help with multiple furniture pieces, appliances, or belongings from a move or renovation. This size is $65 per month.

10×20 storage unit

A 10×20 unit provides about 200 square feet of floor area. It is Harper Mini-Storage’s largest option and may suit larger household moves, more extensive furniture storage, or business items. This size is $75 per month.

Leave room to retrieve your belongings

If you plan to visit the unit regularly, leave a narrow center aisle and keep frequently needed boxes near the front. A tightly packed smaller unit may hold your belongings, but a slightly larger unit can be more convenient.
